Los Montisinos

Los Montesinos is a traditional spanish town in the province of Alicante. It is situated between the AP7 (Elche  to Torrevieja)  junction 751 and 754, and to the north of the CV905.

In the centre of the town is a lovely square where you can sit and enjoy a hot or cold refreshment and have a pleasant lunch or evening meal.

The town has multiple restaurants spread through out the streets which include the top rated “Restaurante Rincon de Miguel”, “Restaurante Casa Pili”, “Restaurante Punjabi Palace”.  There are cafes such as  “Tapas D´ Dalia”.

The nearest supermarket in Montesinos is the Supermercado Manper.

The nearest larger town is Quesada, Rojales, which is 10 minutes in the car, travelling in a northerly direction along the CV905.

Along the drive from Los Montesinos to Quesada there are several garden centres, which sell beautiful plants, flowers and souvenirs.

As you reach the roundabout with the signs for Guardamar, El Raso (CV895), you can take this turning and it will take you to a large Consum Supermarket and the Hotel La Laguna Spa, where you can enjoy a nice relaxing day.

Travel long this road and you will reach  Guardamar and the numerous blue flag beaches, of Moncayo, Plata de Les Ortigues, Platja La Roqueta, Playa Centro. These beaches have sunbeds and umbrellas available to hire, and many beach bars to quest your thirst. Guardamar is a small Spanish town with a lovely park in the centre to spend with the children or amble around. Guardamar has a fabulous Mores and Christians 2 week fiesta towards the end of July. The parades are a must to see to explore the Spanish Culture.

From the Guardamar beaches you can travel  north to La Marina and El Pinet beaches which are another 10 minutes drive and further on past the salt flats is Santa Pola.

Santa Pola is a traditional Spanish seaport with café bars, windsurfing schools and Santa Pola Amusement Park, and for those with children or a love of wild animals there is Rio Safari Park.

Along the road from Los Montesinos to Guardamar (CV895) there is a Saturday car boot sale/market and on a Sunday there is the large Lemon Tree Market, where you can purchase your fresh fruit, vegetables and chicken.

Returning to the roundabout on the CV905,  proceed along the road to the next roundabout whre there is a JYSK, Aldi and a large Consum on the left hand side. At the next roundabout take the 3rd turning which leads to the  English supermarket Food & Co.

Return to the roundabout near JYSK, and continue along the main road aright hand side  there is a Lidl’s supermarket, which can be accessed from the nest roundabout. Take the 1st junction of the roundabout and this will lead to another roundabout with numerous choices. The first is  up to the Burger King and Lidl.

The second is under the arches into the well known area of Quesada, where you can spend many an hour in the cafes, shops and exploring the side streets.

There is a Go Karting track  on the right hand side of the CV905. Travel through the arches in Quesada and follow the signs to the  water park.

Return to the AP7 junction 745 there is  a large roundabout and on the westerly side it has a very large Sunday market “Zoco”, where many an hour can be spent.

Follow the road signed to San Miguel and you will see and golfing range and small golf course “Greenland’s Sport Club”.

There are a few Spanish towns around the area to explore, Algorfa which has a superb golf course, Almoradi with its furniture shops, and large Saturday market, Dolores with traditional Friday market, San Miguel de Salinas.

An alternative golf course is on the northern side of Quesada in Rojales is the La Marquesa Golf course.

From Los Montesinos  head south on the CV943 in the direction of Torrevieja. Along this route there are several urbanisations with their own cafes, restaurants, shops and supermarkets.

In San Luis there is a small family friendly waterpark called Aquapark Flamingo.

Travelling into Torrevieja there is a large Carrefour, Habaneros shopping Mall, IMF  Cinema and Bowling Alley. This area also has the major supermarkets and well done fast food outlets of KFC, Good Burger, Burger King.

Take the road between Lidl’s and Habaneros  travel over the bridge over the N332, and on the left hand side Aquopolis Waterpark which is open from June to September.  Behind there is a large Friday market.

If  continue straight across the roundabouts by the water park for 10 minutes you will reach the beaches of Cala del Mojon, Cala de la Zorra and Cala del Moro.

Return to the Habaneros roundabout and continue across the roundabout past Burger King, there is   another roundabout with choices of going into Torrevieja,  onto the N332 in the direction of Cartagena or Alicante.

Enter the centre of Torrevieja and down to the port. There are blue flag beaches going from the port to Playa del Acequion, Playa de Los Naufragos. The port area is currently being redeveloped and will contain many bars and restaurants. There is a superb boardwalk along the coast in both directions.

Alicante is the largest city in the Alicante Province with a port, castle and shops to explore.

Cartagena is a Roman City and a popular cruise liner stop off point.

Elche is renowned for the palm tree parks.
